Wix, a leading website builder, has extended its partnership with Stripe to bring US-based Wix merchants Tap to Pay on iPhone.

With compatible devices, Wix store owners can now accept contactless payments from anywhere, providing businesses with opportunities for more sales and conversions. Amit Sagiv and Volodymyr Tsukur, the Co-Heads of Wix Payments, said this of the new service: “Our partnership with Stripe gives merchants the ultimate flexibility to sell anytime, anywhere – whether in-store or on the go, at their own convenience to never miss a sale.”

Tap to Pay on iPhone is an additional tool in Wix’s arsenal of already impressive features, and the free payment solution specifically expands Wix’s POS (Point of Sale) offering.

The contactless payment market in the US generated $148 billion in 2022 and is set to reach $199 billion in 2023. With consumers increasingly favoring contactless payment, especially in a post-COVID world, it’s important to cater to this style of transaction.

Setting Up Tap to Pay

So, how does it work? If you’re a US-based Wix Payments merchant using Wix for eCommerce, bookings, or events, and you have an iPhone XS (or later), then you’re eligible to use the service. Wix users can simply connect the Wix Owner App and their iPhones to accept and process contactless payments from customers in four easy steps:

  1. Set up your Wix Payments account
  2. Download the Wix Owner App
  3. Activate Tap to Pay on iPhone within the app
  4. Accept payments via your iPhone

Very simple! Most payment methods are approved (if they have contactless technology), from credit cards to Apple Pay, and, as you can see, you don’t need any additional hardware to get started.

How Can Tap to Pay on iPhone Help Your Business?

It’s secure, flexible, and it helps businesses reach customers in both the digital and real world. In the words of Sagiv and Tsukur:

“Tap to Pay on iPhone offers merchants a reliable and secure payment option to increase customer touchpoints and deliver new in-person experiences, ultimately optimizing their multichannel strategy…”

Whether you’re selling from your store or business, on the fly at a local market, or want to take payments for an upcoming appointment, Tap to Pay on iPhone creates a smooth buying experience for both customers and business owners. While customers get a secure and easy transaction, Wix provides merchants with smart analytics to help keep track of products sold in-person and online, syncing your product catalog across channels.

Customers should be aware that there is a 2.6% + 20¢ processing fee for each Tap to Pay on iPhone transaction. This is slightly higher than other Wix POS sales.

That being said, not only is the Wix Owner App a great place to manage and monitor your business, sales, products, and traffic, but you can also deliver in-person refunds, send digital receipts, and delight users with custom discounts during checkout.

So, if you’re a US-based merchant using Wix, it’s worth taking a look at Tap to Pay on iPhone as a method to boost sales. Keep an eye on this space for the latest Wix news.
